E.H. Wright Co. strives to provide the Brick Industry with the best instrumentation service and products available. We have developed several products  and  systems to achieve this goal. We back this up with training at our facility in Huntersville, North Carolina as well as onsite training commissioning of our systems.

The PugMaster Classic Moisture Control System was developed initially for the brick industry. This system measures two large variables (moisture content and feed rate) and controls the addition of water required to reach a desired extruded material moisture content.   With the addition of peripheral controls we can also control raw material feed rate and liquid or dry additives as a ratio of the "Dry Raw Material Feed Rate".   We also control the disposal of "Waste Liquids" (wash down water - slurries - vacuum pump condensate) to the Pug Mill while maintaining desired moisture control.

The Pugmaster Plus Moisture Control System is an outgrowth of our experience with the Pugmaster Classic.  We finally discovered (many of our Customers had been telling us for years but we were to hard headed to listen) a third and very large variable.  Return Material (trimmings and end cuts).  This System measures the return material with a belt scale.  We already know the moisture content (it was just extruded) so we calculate the "Dry Feed Rate" of the return materials.  We add this to the "Dry Feed Rate" of the Raw Materials and adjust the speed of the Raw Clay Feeder to control the "Total Dry Feed Rate".  This indirectly controls the level in the Pug Mill, the level in the Vacuum Chamber and the Extrusion Rate.   In most cases this will allow the operator to run very close to the maximum speed of the setting equipment (depending on auger ware) without over running it.  This produces on average an increase in production of about 5%.  We also incorporated in this system the ability to monitor the Extrusion Process.  The PugMaster Plus is the Classic Plus. . .

Total Dry Feed Control (compensates for return material, trimmings, end cuts).

Ratio Control of up to six (6) additives (dry or liquid) with deviation alarms.

Monitor and alarm Pug Amps, Extruder Amps, Die Oil Pressure, Vacuum, and Feed Rates (including additives).

Trending (4 hours real time and 40 days historical) of all measured variables.

Recipe Management.  (and much more)

The Blendmaster was developed to control the blending of raw materials from separate feeders onto a common belt in a continuous operation.  This Control System is unique in the industry.  This is the only Control System we know of that compensates for the moisture content of the individual feed materials.  Moisture Transmitters and Belt Scales are used to monitor the feed rate and moisture content of all materials.  The "Dry Feed Rate" of each material is then controlled as a ratio of the "Master Feed Controller Setpoint".  This Control System develops a Calculated Total Dry Feed Signal and a Calculated Total Feed Moisture Content Signal that it then uses for precise Moisture Control.  Transport Times from the Feeders to the Pug Mill are the determining factor in deciding if the Blendmaster can also be used for Moisture Control.

The Blendmaster also has all the additional features of the Pugmaster Plus.
